Baseball Game Preview: Boys' Latin Charter vs. West Philadelphia Speedboys

Boys' Latin Charter will head out to challenge the West Philadelphia Speedboys at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are still undefeated (Boys' Latin Charter has three wins , while West Philadelphia has five dating back to last season).

Boys' Latin Charter had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Franklin Learning Center on Thursday. Boys' Latin Charter put the hurt on Franklin Learning Center with a sharp 17-1 victory.

Aidan Marion was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Marion was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases. Marion is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sebastian Hernandez, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his eight plate appearances. Meanwhile, West Philadelphia narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Tacony Academy Charter 5-3.

West Philadelphia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tacony Academy Charter only posted an OBP of .333.

Boys' Latin Charter's record is now 3-0. As for West Philadelphia, their record now sits at 2-0.
