Baseball Game Preview: Earlville Red Raiders vs. Hiawatha Hawks

For the second straight game, Earlville will face off against Hiawatha. The Red Raiders will host the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Earlville has three straight wins, Hiawatha has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Earlville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Hiawatha by a score of 3-0.

The result came thanks to Aaden Browder's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Todd, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Earlville: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-8 otherwise. James Henne also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Earlville's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Hiawatha, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
