Baseball Recap: Staley Picks Up 14th Straight Win on the Road

Staley faced Lee's Summit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Falcons never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Brody Irlbeck was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alexander Paul was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Evan Abbott, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Staley pushed their record up to 29-3 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Lee's Summit, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 26-10.

As of now, neither Staley nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
