Volleyball Recap: Powell County Comes Up Short on the Road Against Paintsville

Powell County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Paintsville Tigers on Monday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2018.

Powell County was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-13.

Paintsville found their leader in freshman Kendall Short, who had 15 digs.

Paintsville's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.

Powell County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Madison Southern on the 19th. As for Paintsville, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Martin County on the 21st.
