Basketball Game Preview: Loudonville Redbirds vs. Fredericktown Freddies

The Loudonville Redbirds will take on the Fredericktown Freddies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Loudonville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Loudonville will head into Monday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 23-point drubbing they dealt Wellington on Monday. Loudonville put the hurt on Wellington with a sharp 42-19 win.

Meanwhile, Fredericktown was able to grind out a solid victory over East Knox on Saturday, taking the game 51-41. Given the Freddies' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 410th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loudonville better keep an eye on Cally Carpenter. She was instrumental in Fredericktown's win, going 6 for 15 on her way to 14 points and five steals. Kit Bellman was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Loudonville pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Fredericktown, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
