Football Recap: Chilton Piles Up the Points Against Marlin

Chilton got themselves on the board against Marlin on Friday, but Marlin never followed suit. They blew past the Bulldogs 37-0. Fans of the Pirates have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Marneko Thomas Jr. looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 96 yards, while also throwing for 71 yards and a pair of TDs.

Chilton's run defense was locked in: Marlin could only muster 1.3 yards per carry. The Pirates didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.7.

The victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for Chilton, bringing their record up to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Marlin, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

After each having a week off, Chilton and Goldthwaite will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The game will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Marlin, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 27-6 loss against Hearne on the 19th.
