Basketball Game Preview: Vernon Lions vs. Iowa Park Hawks

Vernon and Iowa Park are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Vernon Lions will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Iowa Park Hawks at 7:30 p.m.

Vernon is headed into Friday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They took a 37-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bowie on Tuesday. The game marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Iowa Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They snuck past Holliday with a 48-43 victory on Tuesday.

Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Iowa Park, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 14-8.

Vernon came up short against Iowa Park in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 70-64. Can Vernon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
