Baseball Recap: Coronado Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Coronado's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Palmer Terrors a 7-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-6 back in March.

Max Garza and Jett Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Garza pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Mills didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Garza scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Mills went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Turner Whitney was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Coronado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Coronado has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Palmer, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Coronado will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Terrors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
