Softball Game Preview: Eastlake Titans vs. Westlake Warriors

The Eastlake Titans will head out to face off against the Westlake Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastlake will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Eastlake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bakersfield Christian, sneaking past 3-2.

Addison Suriano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rachel Del Busto was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Rancho Bernardo 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 3rd.

Westlake also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Presley Watters gave up three earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Ziebell White, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Kira Palmer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Westlake pushed their record up to 20-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eastlake, their win bumped their record up to 21-11-1.

Eastlake skirted past Westlake 5-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
