Basketball Recap: Polo Comes Up Short

Polo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 38-20 to the Milan Wildcats. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Milan was led to victory by Amy Pickering and Marian Dabney. Pickering went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points and six steals, while Dabney posted 12 points along with six assists and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pickering has scored at least a third of Milan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Pauley, who had six points.

Polo's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Milan, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polo will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wellington-Napoleon at 5:30 p.m. on February 13, 2025. Milan also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Atlanta at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
