Baseball Recap: Tug Valley Panthers vs. Martin County Cardinals        
        
		
            
 Tug Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings  match against Martin County  on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Martin County Cardinals by a score of  8-7. Even though they lost, Tug Valley's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
 Tug Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Ashton Smith, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
 On Martin County's side,  Damian Cheek made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out ten batters over  eight innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits (and only one walk). Cheek was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Ryan Stephens was  incredible,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 4-for-5.  Aiden Horn was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
 Tug Valley now  has a losing record at 2-3. As for Martin County, the  win for them keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
 Tug Valley will head out on the road to  square off against  Phelps at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Phelps and three for Tug Valley. As for Martin County, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Menifee County at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Menifee County's hitters has struggled lately (they haven't scored a  run in four consecutive games), something the team is no doubt ready to change.
