Volleyball Game Preview: Oswego Panthers vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

The Oswego Panthers will square off against the Providence Catholic Celtics at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oswego is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Oswego faced off against Joliet West on Thursday. The Panthers walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Tigers.

While Oswego won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-18.

Isaac Izeta was the offensive standout of the game as he had ten digs. That's the most digs he has posted since back in April.

Oswego was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Providence Catholic had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Rams 2-1.

Oswego better keep an eye on Danny Pilon. He was instrumental in Providence Catholic's win, getting nine digs and two aces.

Providence Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-20 record this season. As for Oswego, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-9.
