Basketball Recap: New Smyrna Beach's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

New Smyrna Beach won the last time they faced Anclote and things went their way on Friday too. The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas walked away with a 55-46 victory over the Anclote Sharks. Given the Barracudas' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Sharks are ranked 564th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Tyler Mcknight, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Owen Mclaughlin, who posted nine points and three steals.

With the win, New Smyrna Beach broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-4. As for Anclote, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

New Smyrna Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-54 defeat against Lake Gibson on the 11th. As for Anclote, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-41 victory against Tarpon Springs on the 13th.
