Volleyball Recap: St. Xavier Bombers vs. Elder Panthers
St. Xavier faced Elder in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bombers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Bombers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
While St. Xavier had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 14-25, 25-22, 25-20.
Joe Taggart paced St. Xavier's offense, picking up 19 kills. Taggart got some help from Leo Miller and his 48 assists. Miller also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Ben Ferris, each putting up two.
St. Xavier's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Elder, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. St. Xavier will face off against Walnut Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elder, they will take on Beavercreek at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
