Recap: Whitehall Vikings vs. Montague Wildcats

The Whitehall Vikings put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They had just enough and edged Montague out 64-62. Given Whitehall's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Montague is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Camden Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. Thompson is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kal Koehler, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Whitehall's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Montague, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Whitehall has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Manistee at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Whitehall's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 16 matchups. As for Montague, they will head out on the road to challenge Ludington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
