In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. Among the action were the efforts of Watauga's junior Bryce Satterfield, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Welcome
Jacksonville repeated its 56-point performance from the game before for another record-booster in its most recent game. It had all the answers against Western Alamance, winning 56 - 28. Two standouts for Jacksonville were senior Justyn Benton and senior Graham Brinker; the former ran for 213 yards and also punched in one touchdown while the latter earned two touchdowns and 177 yards rushing the ball. Thanks to its success, Jacksonville cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 16th spot.
Can't Touch This
Watauga's 49 - 26 win over Parkland last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Bryce Satterfield. Satterfield earned six touchdowns and 322 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Satterfield as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
Movin on Up
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Terry Sanford in its matchup against Rocky Mount. The team got that and then some. Terry Sanford had a great defensive game, holding Rocky Mount to zero points to set up the 30 - 0 win. One star in particular for Terry Sanford was senior Leonard Mosley, who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns. The success catapulted Terry Sanford 33 spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Richmond (9th in the power rankings) and Myers Park (2nd). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Myers Park and Richmond both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Myers Park with nine and Richmond with nine), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
