Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Chartiers Valley's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Chartiers Valley won the last time they faced Trinity and things went their way on Friday too. The Colts came out on top against the Hillers by a score of 7-4.

Delaney O'Connor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Duffill, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alana Woods, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Chartiers Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Chartiers Valley has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Trinity, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Chartiers Valley will venture away from home to square off against South Fayette at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Trinity, they will welcome Southmoreland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Scotties have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
