Baseball Game Preview: Alisal Trojans vs. North Monterey County Condors

For the second straight game, Alisal will face off against North Monterey County. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Condors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Alisal 3, North Monterey County 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Alisal is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against North Monterey County on Wednesday. They fell 6-1 to the Condors. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For North Monterey County's part, Leo Cruz and Tyler Baldwin did most of the damage at the plate: Cruz went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Baldwin went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Baldwin has become a key player for the Condors: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was JT Islas, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Monterey County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matches.

North Monterey County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Alisal, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
