Baseball Recap: Signal Mountain Comes Up Short

Signal Mountain suffered their closest loss since April 4th on Friday. They fell just short of the Heritage Mountaineers by a score of 4-2.

Luke Smiley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Signal Mountain saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bo Cooper, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Signal Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 18-13-1. As for Heritage, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-12 record this season.

Signal Mountain has already played their next contest (against Soddy Daisy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Heritage, they will face off against Alcoa at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mountaineers 3.9, the Tornadoes 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
