Softball Recap: Western Alamance Wins Going Away Against Southern Alamance

Western Alamance lost to Southern Alamance back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Western Alamance let Bayleigh Burris and Ryan Justice run wild. Burris went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Justice went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Burris has posted since back in April of 2024. Kyndal Wilborn was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Western Alamance always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Western Alamance's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Alamance, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Western Alamance is taking a road trip to take on Person at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southern Alamance, they will host Northern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Nighthawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
