Basketball Recap: Desert Sunrise's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Desert Sunrise had lost four straight headed into Wednesday's game, but Tessani Montgomery didn't let it get to five. The Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks managed a 46-40 win over the Cortez Colts on Wednesday thanks in part to Montgomery, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Shayla Hill, who almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and 11 steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last ten times she's played.

Desert Sunrise's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-10. As for Cortez, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.
