Basketball Game Preview: Madill Wildcats vs. Lone Grove Longhorns

Madill is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Lone Grove is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Madill Wildcats will host the Lone Grove Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Madill is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Idabel: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Madill blew Idabel out of the water with a 62-31 final score. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Warriors are ranked 160th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Madill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elexis Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Holmes' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was La'Miyah Brown, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lone Grove made easy work of Dickson last Friday and carried off a 54-29 win.

Lone Grove is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points over those games. Madill's victory bumped their record up to 23-1.

Madill strolled past Lone Grove in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 44-26. Does Madill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lone Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
