Volleyball Recap: Ridgeline Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Ridgeline couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Desert Hills Thunder on Monday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Riverhawks of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Their offense was headlined by Brynlie Cornia and Lili Madsen, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Sophie Larsen and her 14 assists.

Leading Desert Hills to victory were Jayla Ybright and Sam Spencer. Ybright had four digs and two aces, while Spencer had six digs and three assists. Ybright is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 20 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Ridgeline's defeat dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Desert Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Ridgeline wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Provo on the 28th. As for Desert Hills, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Green Canyon on the 28th.
