Soccer Game Preview: Galena vs. Richland Center

The Galena Pirates will challenge the Richland Center Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Galena's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Galena is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Dodgeville on Tuesday. The Pirates took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dodgers. That's two games in a row now that Galena have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, Richland Center had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against Sparta, falling 5-1.

Galena's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Richland Center, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Galena's way against Richland Center in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Galena made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
