Uwharrie Charter takes loss despite strong efforts from Aaron Smith and Braeden Lamb

Recap: Uwharrie Charter Eagles vs. Eastern Randolph Wildcats

The Uwharrie Charter Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 88-75 to Eastern Randolph. Uwharrie Charter has not had much luck with Eastern Randolph recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Braeden Lamb and Aaron Smith certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Lamb scored 23 points, while Smith scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Denamur, who scored nine points.

Eastern Randolph's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nicah Taylor, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Taylor is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Timothy Brower, who scored 29 points along with two steals.

Uwharrie Charter's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Eastern Randolph, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Uwharrie Charter will head out on the road to square off against Southwestern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Southwestern Randolph's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. Eastern Randolph won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Swansboro at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Swansboro sitting on 11 straight victories and Eastern Randolph on three.
