After a string of three wins, St. John's good fortune finally ran out  on Saturday. They fell just short of the Spearville Lancers by a score of  2-1. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in October of 2024.
 In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, St. John sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 23-25,  26-24.
 Gentri Bright paced St. John's offense, picking up 17 kills. Bright got some help from  Lainey Peterson and her 11 assists. Bright was also a major player on defense:   she and  she shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with four each.
St. John's loss dropped their record down to 26-14. As for Spearville, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 33-6 record  this season.
 St. John wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  contest,  a  2-0  victory against Norwich on the 25th. As for Spearville, they have also already played their next matchup,  a  2-0  win against Macksville on the 25th.
