Football Game Preview: Fort Frye Cadets vs. Caldwell Redskins

Fort Frye has gone 9-1 against Caldwell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cadets will challenge the Redskins at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Fort Frye beats Caldwell with 46 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Cadets blew past Point Pleasant, posting a 46-14 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Cadets, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Fort Frye's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyce Beardsley led the charge by rushing for 206 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing yards Beardsley has posted since back in October of 2024. Gavin Rauch was another key back, rushing for 134 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fort Frye was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 425 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Fort Frye didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Beardsley. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 119 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Caldwell had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Grove City Christian 42-7. Caldwell's win was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 13.55 points allowed on the season.

Fort Frye's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Caldwell, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Everything went Fort Frye's way against Caldwell in their previous matchup back in September, as Fort Frye made off with a 31-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
