Baseball Recap: Hennessey Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Hennessey not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 13-3). They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Blackwell Maroons. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Maroons: they've now won eight in a row.

Levi Ferrell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Hennessey let Jakob Johns and Alex Gonzalez run wild. Johns got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Gonzalez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Jones, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Hennessey's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-14. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Blackwell, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hennessey will host Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blackwell, they will welcome Putnam City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Maroons are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
