Basketball Recap: Covington Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Dere'yon Stewart and Devon Mason

Covington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 53-43 to the Humboldt Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 60-50 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Despite the loss, Covington had strong showings from Devon Mason, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, and Dere'Yon Stewart, who posted seven points and four steals.

Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Humboldt, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Covington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-64 win against Haywood on the 2nd. As for Humboldt, they have also already played their next contest, an 84-36 loss against Briarcrest Christian on the 28th.
