Soccer Game Preview: Ridge View vs. Lugoff-Elgin

The Ridge View Blazers will head out to face off against the Lugoff-Elgin Demons at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Ridge View has given up an average of 5.5 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Ridge View came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-0 to Spring Valley. The loss continues a trend for the Blazers in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Lugoff-Elgin's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blythewood. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Bengals are ranked 31st).

Lugoff-Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Ridge View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Ridge View might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Lugoff-Elgin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Ridge View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
