It was a good run, but South Brunswick unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-match winning streak on Monday. They lost 3-0 to the Ashley Screaming Eagle. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since September 10th.

South Brunswick was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Ashley work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-7, 25-15.

South Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Ashley, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

South Brunswick and Ashley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Cougars will take on Fairmont at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (219 vs. 581). Meanwhile, Ashley (ranked 101st) will meet West Brunswick (ranked 389th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
