Recap: North Vikings vs. Buchtel Griffins
The North Vikings''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by Buchtel 40-0. While losing is never fun, North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 602nd, while Buchtel is ranked 265th).
Sigmund Felding threw for 31 yards on four of nine attempts. On the ground, Jaydein Echols rushed for 27 yards.
Buchtel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wylie Cheairs, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Cheairs was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Stevie Diamond was another key contributor, throwing for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
North's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.43 points per game. Buchtel is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
North will head out on the road to face off against Garfield Community Learning Center at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Garfield Community Learning Center has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18th. As for Buchtel, they will be playing at home against Firestone at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
