Softball Game Recap: Traverse City West Titans vs. Cadillac Vikings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gaylord, Traverse City West was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cadillac Vikings a 10-0 shutout. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Kapri Wilson, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kyra Coles, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Traverse City West lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Traverse City West's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Cadillac, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Traverse City West and Cadillac could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Titans will challenge Richmond at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (254 vs. 34). Meanwhile, Cadillac (ranked 308th) will meet Kingsley (ranked 130th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
