Basketball Game Preview: Atwater Falcons vs. Merced Bears

Atwater has won three straight games at home, while Merced has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Atwater Falcons will host the Merced Bears at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

If Merced heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Atwater took over last week. Atwater walked away with a 60-50 victory over El Capitan on Friday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Merced). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 93-45 win over Buhach Colony. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won five in a row.

Merced's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Atwater, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 21-5 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Atwater, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-37 loss to Merced in their previous meeting back in January.
