Softball Recap: Sun Prairie West Comes Up Short

Sun Prairie West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sun Prairie East Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in April.

Kaelynn Endres spent all 12 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sun Prairie West saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Olsen, who went 2-for-6 with one run.

Sun Prairie West's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Sun Prairie East, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cardinals beat Sun Prairie West by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
