Basketball Recap: Arnold Tonpea Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Howard hadn't done well against Salesianum recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Howard Wildcats walked away with a 59-52 win over the Salesianum Sallies. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 68-53 victory the Sallies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Howard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Arnold Tonpea led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Nick Baysah was another key player, scoring 11 points and six boards.

Howard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.

Howard's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Salesianum, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Howard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-72 victory against McKean on the 6th. Salesianum has also already played their next game (against St. Mark's), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
