Baseball Recap: Tooele Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Tooele came into Wednesday's contest having lost 15 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Sky View Bobcats 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buffaloes have posted since March 29, 2025.

Coleman Dunford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tanner Lay was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabe Sutherland, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Tooele kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Tooele's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 3-19. As for Sky View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Tooele will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sky View: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
