Recap: Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles vs. Chapin Eagles

Even though the Chapin Eagles scored an imposing 63 points on Friday, the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles still came out on top. Gray Collegiate Academy enjoyed a cozy 80-63 win over Chapin. Given Gray Collegiate Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Chapin is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Braylhan Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. Darius Carr was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.

Gray Collegiate Academy pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Chapin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Gray Collegiate Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pebblebrook at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Pebblebrook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Gray Collegiate Academy likes a good challenge. Chapin will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Lexington has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 353 points over their last five games.
