Soccer Recap: Mount Vernon Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Mount Vernon was not quite Paris's equal in the second half on Saturday. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paris Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in February.

Mount Vernon has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. The win (which was Paris' third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.

Coming up, Mount Vernon will head out on the road to face off against Pleasant Grove at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Paris, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Paris face off against the North Lamar at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Paris has won four straight at home, while North Lamar won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
