Softball Game Preview: Flora Wolves vs. Hamilton County Foxes

The Flora Wolves will face off against the Hamilton County Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Flora was handed a 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Fairfield 5-3.

Meanwhile, Hamilton County got the win against Goreville on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-2. The Foxes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Hamilton County let Emery Hart and Saylor Brown run wild. Hart got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Brown went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Hart a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Flannigan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hamilton County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Hamilton County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-11. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Flora, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Flora might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Hamilton County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
