Baseball Game Preview: Hill School Rams vs. Kiski School Cougars

The Hill School Rams will square off against the Kiski School Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Hill School has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Hill School is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Hun, who was ranked seventh in their home state at the time (Hill School was ranked 22nd). The Rams came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-4. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kiski School). They walked away with a 10-6 win over Leechburg on Thursday. Kiski School's victory was all the more impressive since the Blue Devils were averaging only 3.33 runs allowed on the season.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Hahn, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Parker Hannah also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Kiski School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Hill School pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kiski School, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Hill School skirted past Kiski School 19-17 when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
