Basketball Game Preview: Winter Springs Bears vs. Mainland Buccaneers

The Winter Springs Bears will face off against the Mainland Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winter Springs is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Winter Springs is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Osceola: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Winter Springs blew Osceola out of the water with a 66-31 final score. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 26 points or more this season.

Winter Springs' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Heaven Sims, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, and Jullianna Woodard, who went 6 of 11 en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most points Woodard has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hanson, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Mainland ended up a good deal behind DeLand on Thursday and lost 52-37. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Winter Springs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Mainland, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
