Preview: Jack Britt Buccaneers vs. Douglas Byrd Eagles
Jack Britt is 5-0 against Douglas Byrd since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Jack Britt Buccaneers will be home for the holidays to greet the Douglas Byrd Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Jack Britt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Even though Jack Britt has not done well against Scotland recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Jack Britt snuck past Scotland with a 42-36 victory. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Jack Britt has scored all year.
Jack Britt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Lord, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Lord's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayvien Richardson, who scored six points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Douglas Byrd, who are still winless after their seventh game. They were outmatched by Red Springs on the road and fell 77-39.
Jack Britt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Douglas Byrd, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Jack Britt against Douglas Byrd in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 66-26 victory. With Jack Britt ahead 34-9 at the half, the match was all but over already.
