Baseball Game Preview: American Heritage Stallions vs. IMG Academy Gold Ascenders

The American Heritage Stallions will be taking part in a tournament against the IMG Academy Gold Ascenders at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. American Heritage's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so IMG Academy Gold's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

American Heritage not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 20th. They blew past Pembroke Pines Charter 11-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Stallions considering their two-run performance the match before.

Noah Garfinkel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has become a key player for American Heritage: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Alex Zhao was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Matt Pace also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, IMG Academy Gold suffered their biggest loss since February 28th on Monday. They came up short against Coral Springs, falling 8-1.

American Heritage's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for IMG Academy Gold, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. American Heritage has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like IMG Academy Gold struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts.
