Volleyball Recap: Westland Takes a Loss

Westland lost against Central Crossing back in August of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Comets, falling 3-0.

While Westland was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Central Crossing's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-20, 26-24.

Westland's offense was headlined by Kyleigh Yantis and Kylie Murphy, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Audrey Alves and her 22 assists. Alaina Hollister controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Westland has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Central Crossing, their win bumped their record up to 6-15.

Coming up, Westland will head out on the road to challenge Dublin Jerome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Celtics will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Central Crossing, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against New Albany on the 16th.
