Basketball Recap: Vega Extends Winning Streak to Four

After losing to Gruver the last time they met, Vega decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Vega Longhorns strolled past the Gruver Greyhounds with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 45-31. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 627th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Vega, bringing their record for this year to 14-5. As for Gruver, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vega will face off against West Texas at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Vega is facing West Texas at the right time seeing as West Texas is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Gruver, they will head out to challenge Texline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
