Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is East Duplin's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but East Duplin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Southwest Onslow Stallions. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Stallions back in March, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

East Duplin got a great performance from Kyle Kern as he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Kern has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, East Duplin's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Holmes, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another was JP Murphy, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

East Duplin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Southwest Onslow, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

East Duplin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-8 loss against East Bladen on the 30th. Southwest Onslow does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
