Basketball Game Preview: Whitefield Academy WolfPack vs. Landmark Christian War Eagles

The Whitefield Academy WolfPack will head out on the road to square off against the Landmark Christian War Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Whitefield Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Whitefield Academy turned things around against Cristo Rey Atlanta on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cristo Rey Atlanta 71-24. With the WolfPack ahead 53-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Whitefield Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hailey Houlder led the charge by going 10 of 15 en route to 25 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Houlder has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Amelia Newman was another key player, going 9 for 18 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.

Whitefield Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Landmark Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of King's Ridge Christian. One positive for the War Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Whitefield Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Landmark Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
