Baseball Game Preview: Teague Lions vs. Buffalo Bison

Teague is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to take on the Buffalo Bison at 7:00 p.m. Teague is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Teague took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Rice.

Bo Bowers and Mario Cuevas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bowers struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Cuevas struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). At bat, Bowers scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Cuevas scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Teague let Blake Maggard and Kade Kormos run wild. Maggard scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Kormos went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Buffalo came up short against Iola on Friday and fell 8-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Buffalo's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Teague, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Teague was able to grind out a solid win over Buffalo in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 8-5. Will Teague repeat their success, or does Buffalo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
