Soccer Game Preview: Tallmadge vs. Aurora

Tallmadge hasn't had much luck against Aurora recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Greenmen at 7:00 p.m. Tallmadge has given up an average of 3.6 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tallmadge came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-0 to Roosevelt. While losing is never fun, Tallmadge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Roosevelt are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Aurora made sure to put some goals up on the board against Barberton on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Magics a 9-0 shutout. Aurora might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

Aurora's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 48 goals over those seven matches. As for Tallmadge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-4.

Tallmadge suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Aurora when the teams last played back in September. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
